Intellectual Property Piracy Assessment

The stock in trade of many industries are products that can exist solely in digital form. Prominent examples of these products include music, motion pictures, software, video games, and publishing. In all these cases, millions of dollars worth of product can be illegally copied and distributed at minimal cost. As a result, theft is rampant. To combat the problem, intellectual property-based industries invest considerable effort in investigation, lobbying, education, and working with government agencies. Key to many of these activities is the ability to estimate the amount of intellectual property piracy in various countries. To this end we are have been working with several trade associations and individual companies to develop, test and implement, and test methodologies for measuring the extent of intellectual property piracy.
